Green House Gases

Green house gases could be naturally occurring such as Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, Methane, and water vapor.

Carbon Dioxide is the most well known among these green house gasses that the term is almost used interchangeably with green house gasses itself. Carbon Dioxide is the gas that we give out every time we breathe. But there are other human processes that produce Carbon Dioxide. These include the use of chemicals, production of cement, iron or steel, burning of oil, coal, and other natural gasses and during waste combustion.

Nitrous Oxide emission happened during industrial and agricultural activities. It is also emitted during burning of fossil fuels and solid waste. The emission of Nitrous Oxide in the atmosphere is not in great abundance but has a devastating impact on the environment.

Methane emission is seen greatly when the amount of waste increases. Methane is also released during decomposition of organic waste, whether in landfills or in livestock farming and during mining processes.
